Research COVID-19 with AVOBMAT

To foster research into COVID-19 virus, we made the COVID-19 Open Research Dataset created by the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence available in a simplified, beta version of the AVOBMAT (Analysis and Visualization of Bibliographic Metadata and Texts) research tool in Spring, 2020. The database consists of more than 63000 articles, which can be text mined and analysed with the AVOBMAT toolkit. We hope that we can help researchers explore this database in new ways and support the fight against the new coronavirus. When a new version of the COVID-19 database is released, we will upload it to the platform.

AVOBMAT was primarily designed for digital humanities research. Libraries and research databases at scale can be integrated into AVOBMAT. In the COVID-19 version of AVOBMAT, many features including the upload, different preprocessing functions, part-of-speech tagger, named entity recognition and linking and lexical diversity analysis are not available. We plan to release AVOBMAT in April 2024. Please note that COVID-19 database is hosted on a virtual machine with basic parameters.

Before first using AVOBMAT, you might want to have a look at our “Help” page to get familiarized with the main functions of the toolkit.
